VILT Webinars
The following webinars were created as part of a monthly webinar series for which I am the lead ISD. The audience for this webinar series is VISTA members. This webinar series is part of a contract between the company I work for (METCOR/LSI), and our client, AmeriCorps VISTA. To create the webinar and accompanying handout, I lead weekly “Core Design Team” meetings which are attended by myself, 1 individual from another contracting company (Education NorthWest), and 3 individuals from the client company (AmeriCorps VISTA). The analysis phase is handled by the client and is presented to myself and my collaborator from EDNW in a design plan. We develop the webinar in a 9 week turn around period where the development phase is the final 6 weeks. I am responsible for developing the content outline, contracting an external SME/guest speaker if necessary–including deciding reimbursement and contracting terms, collaborating with the SME and our internal team to develop content, designing and developing the slide layouts, animations, and flow; including engagement activities, a learning objective and evaluation question. I am also responsible for leading weekly “Core Design Team” meetings, scheduling rehearsal, implementing client feedback in review cycles prior to the live event, ensuring 508 compliance across materials–including the handout, ensuring correct timing (50 minute runtime), and assisting with Q & A during the live event.
USING DIGITAL TOOLS TO MAKE VOLUNTEERING MORE ACCESSIBLE
This specific webinar was created for the October 2023 VISTA member webinar. I developed the content completely from scratch for the webinar through both my own research and collaboration with an SME. The SME on this webinar contributed heavily to the script for the webinar and provided lots of wonderful examples. Our main focus was equity, accessibility, and DEI and how it pertains to digital marketing. Specifically, the goal of this webinar was to introduce these ideas to VISTA members so that members can ensure the digital marketing materials they create to recruit volunteers at their service sites are equitable and accessible. We used an engagement activity through a site called Mural which is similar to Jamboard. The chat was lively throughout the live event and the topic was of high interest to the audience. The webinar was a huge success with over 200 participants and a wealth of engagement and positive feedback.
ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR SUPERVISOR
This specific webinar was created for the August 2023 VISTA members webinar. This was a new topic and the content was developed from scratch. I was able to develop the content through personal research and collaboration with a SME who additionally was the main presenter for the live webinar. Operating on the 6-week development schedule with an external SME was challenging but we were able to get the work done to a standard of excellence which led to a very engaging live event. We had over 200 participants in the live event and the webinar content was received well. The webinar chat and Q & A portion led to lively discussion and the learning objective was met in terms of the evaluation question data we collected. The handout was an additional resource I developed in collaboration with the SME to provide a takeaway resource to participants. I translated her ideas and tools into the AmeriCorps VISTA branding. One key element of this series is ensuring that the language used is clear and receivable to make sure it is beneficial to the audience.
